FINZ FINDS Central Florida Spring Ride
Nothing like beating the Florida heat in the summertime with a nice back road ride to three of Central Florida’s scenic natural springs. Besides the beautiful back roads in the area, you can stop and cool off with a swim in the 72 degree crystal clear spring water. If you don’t want to get wet, you can always picnic, hike, or canoe and kayak down one of the spring fed rivers in the parks. WEKIWA SPRINGS STATE PARK My ride starts at Wekiwa Springs, and continues onto Kelly Park/Rock Springs, ending at Blue Spring. The ride is only 44.3 miles,…

HARLEY-DAVIDSON ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE OWNER MAKES HISTORY WITH FIRST U.S. BORDER-TO-BORDER JOURNEY
Change in Plans for 50th Birthday Celebration Leads to Historic Memories MILWAUKEE (July 6, 2020) – In the past few months, the world has found new ways to celebrate momentous life achievements. Riding motorcycles has been one such outlet - especially new motorcycles that are groundbreaking, like Harley-Davidson’s first electric motorcycle, LiveWire ™. Diego Cardenas, a California resident, was hoping to spend June 30, 2020, in Spain celebrating his 50th birthday. This Spring, he knew he was going to need a new plan, but he wanted it to be something he was passionate about -- a trip he could do…

Generation To Generation – A poem by Antoine de Saint-Exupery
In a house which becomes a home, one hands down and another takes up the heritage of mind and heart, laughter and tears, musings and deeds. Love, like a carefully loaded ship, crosses the gulf between the generations. Therefore, we do not neglect the ceremonies of our passage: when we wed, when we die, and when we are blessed with a child; When we depart and when we return; When we plant and when we harvest. Let us bring up our children. It is not the place of some official to hand to them their heritage. If others impart to…

We are Born to Ride!

We are Born to Ride!
As I’m writing my column for June, it’s into the later part of May and I’m wondering what to do this Memorial Day weekend. “What IS there to do?” I ask myself. Looking at my social/events calendar, everything seems to be canceled, postponed, or rescheduled for a later date. But I wanna RIDE! Remember we are Born to Ride! Yeah, that’s it. The “where” doesn’t really matter. At least not to my wife, or me. Just being able to get out there and enjoy it, enjoy the weather, enjoy the scenery, enjoy the ride. That’s what it’s all about. Please…

Coming up on the dreaded one year anniversary that Mike would like to forget about, but can’t.
Well here it is my BTR friends, June 2020. Coming up on the dreaded one year anniversary that Mike would like to forget about, but can't.June 23rd, a beautiful Sunday afternoon bike ride down the Bayway was turned upside down when a distracted driver cut Mike off and almost took us out of existence. Instead a small tree in the median did the dirty work. The 2009 Fat Bird 2 was only flying for a short period of time compared to his original scoot, a 1996 FLSTF, better known to many as the original Fat Bird. Its demise happened during the…

The Green Swamp Preserve – Born To Ride Finz Rides
For some reason every time I hear the Talking Heads song Road to Nowhere I think of riding a motorcycle, jumping on the scoot with the intention exploring new roads or scenery. Here’s a suggestion for an exploration ride, the Green Swamp Preserve. The Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve is located in the fourcorner area of Lake, Pasco, Polk, and Sumter counties. How you get there is up to you. What does matter is you realize this is an exploration ride, so don’t be afraid to go left when the directions tell you to go right. Don’t take the following directions…

Here Goes Everybody
Here goes everybody. The moment you’ve been waiting for. More sarcastic and raw points of view from your own Nefarious James. Being upfront, not everybody will agree with me. That’s the beauty of American freedom. Don’t expect me to really care about your point of view or if this hurts your feelings. Grab your crying towel or whatever you need to get ready for this because here it comes both barrels. I am friggin at wits’ end with all this virus shit and stimulus checks that everyone is hoping to receive. Fed up with complacent citizens of this country willing…

Intersection Awareness – MSF Motorcycle Safety Foundation
You should be especially aware at intersections, where other vehicles can cross your path of travel. There are many things to scan for, including traffic devices, road surfaces, and the traffic and pedestrians around you. In a slow, tight turn, such as turning around in a parking lot, it helps to counterweight by leaning in the opposite direction of the motorcycle and direction of the turn. Put pressure on the outside footrest. Info: www.msf-usa.org Safety Tip Sponsored by: Rubenstein Law

SALT LAKE CITY (June 22, 2020) – Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Cameron McAdoo and Austin Forkner didn’t have the day they were looking for at the final Supercross round of the season, finishing 10th and 21st, respectively. The team will now get almost a month off before the start of the Pro Motocross Series on July 18 in Crawfordsville, Indiana. The day started well for McAdoo who claimed a fourth-place in the Western Regional heat race leading into the Showdown Main Event. What is Going on Here?
Government takeover? It looks like it to me. They shut down our economy, then left town. Went home. No more congress in Washington. No more leadership. But no cut in pay for congress. Again, like I asked last month, whatever happened to the “real” ABATE (A Brotherhood Against Totalitarian Enactments)? Wake up folks. This is a government takeover. You gotta stay home. They tell us to let them take care of us. How, you ask? How about shutting down our economy. WHAT!?!? The government tells us that people are dying. Just like they do everyday of the year. But wait…

Elsa Rosenberg Elsa has been a part of the Bay Area sportbike scene since 2001. Originally from India, as a young girl Elsa rode just about anything she could get her hands on – as long as her family didn’t find out! “I started out riding bicycles, mopeds, scooters, and motorcycles. My family didn’t approve of riding motorcycles due to them worrying about me getting hurt.” Leaving India for something new to do, Elsa landed in Los Angeles. “I wanted a fresh start from India. I wanted to get out and come to the United States. I decided to get…

Born To Ride Women’s World has always been dedicated to women that have a unique and wonderful story to tell in regards to their life on two (or three) wheels! The month of May has always been “set aside” in the motorcycling world to promote women riders. To me, every day is about women riders! This year, I celebrate 40 years in the wind. I started when it wasn’t cool let alone “normal.” But I persevered and accomplished many good things in promoting women in the exciting world of motorcycling.
