Helmets: D.O.T. APPROVED HELMETS ARE REQUIRED IN GEORGIA
Georgia requires protective headgear for both passengers and riders of motorcycles and trikes, regardless of age or insurance coverage, unless they are riding within an enclosed cab. According to the Official Code of Georgia Annotated (O.C.G.A.) §40-6-315 (sections a and d): (a) No person shall operate or ride upon a motorcycle unless he or she is wearing protective headgear, which complies with standards established by the commissioner of public safety. (d) The commissioner of public safety is authorized to approve or disapprove protective headgear and eye-protective devices required in this code section and to issue and enforce regulations establishing standards…

Trikes & Bikes Industry Report
Haus of Trikes is one of the largest trike conversion company’s in Florida. “I grew up with trike companies like Motor Trike, California Sidecar, Hannigan, and Road Smith. We all met each other on the manufacturing/distribution-side because I did shows with my trikes and these guys tried to push the conversion trike market. They knew me from day one as a manufacturer and importer and that I already had an established shop. That’s when I became I dealer for them.” Manfred went through all the trainings at these manufacturer’s factories. “We are all trained, got certified, and became specialized trike…

Christmas and The Spirit of Resilience – Night Train
12-20-19 By Florida Night Train In the spirit of this holiday season, I dedicate this column to all of those whose internal struggle persists to balance the notion of the Christmas spirit of giving with that of finding ones-self in a sea of sadness. If this resonates with you, then I confess we are one and the same. However, today I write this knowing that and hoping that the spirit of thinking of others before yourself brings you some measure of peace and happiness as it has for me. My intention behind this is a blessing three-fold, for my children…

Born To Ride Presents CHOPPORAMA Chopper Show
Held in conjunction with Gibtown Bikefest on January 17th, 18th 19th 2020, Born to Ride Media presents the Chopporama Chopper Show! A three-day chopper extravaganza of some of the most talented known (and unknown) builders around the U.S. This ain’t a competition, just a gathering of chopper lovers young and old alike dedicated to those carbed custom machines of years gone by. Don’t worry there will still be Ride In Bike Shows Saturday & Sunday. You ask who are these Builders? For the most part, these builders are what I call the ‘new generation of builder’. The thought process of…

Travel & Adventure, the RV Lifestyle Coincides with the Biker Lifestyle
Creative RV – Atlanta, Georgia As a youngster growing up, we were so fortunate to experience the joy and fun of camping. Every summer, my parents would take us on an adventure to places we would read about in school. Now that I’m older, the thought of getting back into camping – AND taking my motorcycle along – is more intriguing, thanks to my conversation with Marc McAdams of Creative RV Atlanta! Creative RV is an amazing company whose headquarters are located in Chino, California. “We are technically the largest bus sales company in the nation. We specialize in buses…

Tiny Trailer Nation – Making a Big Impact in the Biker Community
During a weekend camping outing, the thought of sleeping on the ground in a tent was just not appealing anymore. Randy Clouse looked for an inexpensive alternative to travel trailers. One day, he came home with a brand-new enclosed utility trailer with the idea of tricking it out as a camper, but during the building stage, he decided that he also wanted to travel/camp with his Harley-Davidson. The result was not only a camper but a toy hauler. After much encouragement and being tired of the slow seasons at work, he decided to venture out on his own building these…

Bikes, Bluetooth and Banter – Women’s World
By Myra McElhaney As you may remember from a previous column, I’m still a new rider and I live and ride in the city. I know! Most people learn on the open road, way before taking their bike into a city with heavy traffic. Living in the city when I got my license and bought my bike made the reverse more logical. Especially when I could practice during the few times when the streets were almost empty, like early Saturday and Sunday mornings before the malls open and the church services start. I’ve practiced enough riding in my familiar surroundings…

Amber Balcean Underdog Bloodline in NASCAR
By Florida Night Train Gamble everything for love, if you’re a true human being. If not, leave this gathering. Half-heartedness doesn’t reach into majesty. You set out to find God, but then you keep stopping for long periods at mean-spirited roadhouses. ~ Rumi I think even Rumi would agree we could substitute the word “love” here for “passion.” Yes, Amber Balcean is known as an underdog. She comes from a bloodline all too familiar to me which is the good old blue-collar breed. Amber is packed with passion for what she does in ways that command respect. She comes from…

There is a huge secret that you may not know of, located in beautiful Ft. Myers, Florida. Haus of Trikes & Bikes is your absolutely one-stop shop for bike repair, rental bikes, new and used motorcycles, and their specialty – building trikes. I spent a wonderful afternoon with Owner Manfred Glanzner and Sales Consultant Mike Tinneny. Both gentlemen are very intelligent professionals who love what they do at Haus of Trikes & Bikes! Manfred shared with me why he started this business. “I started Haus of Trikes & Bikes in 2000. As you can imagine at this point, everyone was…

Congratulations Atlanta Harley-Davidson for 55 Years Serving the Biker Community
And 55 years ago, Eddie Houghton started selling Harley-Davidson motorcycles in downtown Atlanta. WOW! I was still living “up north” and was only 10 years old. My father owned Harley’s in his youth and much to my delight, around this time in my life he brought home a used Harley panhead. I was hooked! Now, my little bicycle riding buddies, at the time were going gaga over the big bad Honda 305 Scrambler. Whoopie, I thought, 305cc vs. 1200cc. Bigger is better, so I’ll stick with the “hog.” When the time came, I bought a brand new, shiny black, 1977…

He’s a Biker, an Artist, a Potter and He May Be a Philosopher, Too! By Eric Albright One of the best parts of my work for the last 30 years has been the people I have met and worked with. I have shot interviews with world leaders as well as icons of the music, film and sports industries. For the most part, these shoots are fun and every once and a while they’re exciting. But many times it’s the person I don’t know beforehand that will leave the biggest impression on me. Meeting fellow biker, David Meaders is one of…

SPYKE & MIKE Biker Benefit Party
Happy end of summer my BTR friends. Some of you will be overjoyed, some of you could care less, but I know Mike is definitely looking forward to fall. Not the tumbling kind mind you, but every day rehabbing is a day closer to the healing date. Mike babbles, “Oh yes my medicinal companion. You’ve spent a lot of time bedside, poolside, and tableside with me. The doc took a look at my screws, bolts, and plates’ shadow in the last set of X-rays.” He said, ‘I’m like Punxsutawney Phil and you only have six more weeks of darkness. Soon…
