Couple Donates Wedding Gifts to Children’s Hospital
Couple Donates Wedding Gifts to Children's Hospital Willy and Pat first met in 8th grade and became friends. But after high school, they went their separate ways. They hadn't seen each other in 43 years, and then they connected on Facebook. Pat was coming to Florida for spring break. Pat asked Willy if he'd take her riding on his motorcycle. Willy asked Pat how many days should he set aside? Pat said just one. Well, they rode every day, and their love story began in Florida. A BIRTHDAY PARTY
A BIRTHDAY PARTY Georgia’s oldest Harley Dealer Macon Harley-Davidson hosted a 98th Birthday Party Celebration for its founder Grover Sassaman that no one in attendance will soon forget. Plenty of food, drinks, raffles, prizes and, of course, a huge Birthday Cake for all to enjoy. I didn’t want to miss the party, so riding down from Marietta, GA to Macon was a great Saturday ride. Upon arriving at Macon H-D and walking in the front door, Trig, their “greeter dog,” gave me a good sniff (looking for more food I suspect), after which I was face to face with Grover,…

Rolling Thunder
Rolling Thunder - 1st Amendment Demonstration Run Rolling Thunder is the largest 1st Amendment demonstration run in the United States, and every year during Memorial Day weekend motorcyclists roll into our Nation’s capital to emphasize the urgency of keeping POW/MIA issues current. “With the economic recovery and healthcare reform taking center stage, the POW/MIA issue is one that nobody in our government wants to address anymore. If they keep dragging their feet, sooner or later anyone who was captured alive will have passed away. But for their families, there is never any closure. Searching for and returning remains is a…

Road Construction – Work Zone Safety
Road Construction/Work Zone Safety   As anyone living in the Southeast knows, there are actually 5 seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Road Work. Considering recent developments in Metro Atlanta, the Road Work Season has begun in a brutal fashion.   Work zones are hazardous for all drivers, more so for motorcyclists. With less stability, the rider must be alert for potential danger. Some work zone road hazards include:   Gravel/Sand on Pavement. Slow down, no sudden turns, and brake lightly in a straight line.   Grooved Pavement. Keep your head up. Keep a steady throttle, go slow, and don’t…

To help put this accomplishment into perspective, consider that Born To Ride has been on television for nearly a quarter century while some of the most popular TV shows of all time ran for a couple of hundred episodes. Woman’s World By Myra McElhaney   Recovering, Riding and Raising Funds In her High School yearbook, Danielle Bosser Dahm had lots of comments from friends about her dark suntan. Tanning became an addiction for her. Not only did she enjoy the compliments on her skin tone, but studies show that tanning raises endorphins. Although she tanned easily, Danielle began tanning daily at lunchtime. She felt like it was a form of therapy from her teens into her twenties. Danielle and her Airforce husband, Chris lived in California until he was given orders to go to Germany. In 2000, she was…

Motorcycle Riding Good For Health, New Study Shows
Motorcycle Riding Good For Health, New Study Shows Milwaukee, WS- An old motorcycling adage asserts, “You never see a motorcycle parked outside a psychiatrist’s office,” and now medical science proves it true. In a recent neurobiological study conducted by a team of researchers at UCLA’s Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior and funded by Harley-Davidson, it was found that motorcycling “increased metrics of focus and attention, and decreased relative levels of cortisol, a hormonal marker of stress.” Dr. Don Vaughn and his research team outfitted 50 experienced motorcycle riders with mobile EEG monitors, then turned them loose to go…

American Brands Issue Latest Sales Reports Harley-Davidson and Indian motorcycle companies both issued their 2018 earnings statements last week, and their reports were a mixed bag.
