BIKER LEGEND, RICK FAIRLESS – Livin’ the Dream!
Rick Fairless was born in Dallas, Texas and lives in the suburb of Irving. He’s a custom bike builder who loves the psychedelic 1960’s and it shows in his world-class roadside attraction and biker hangout, Strokers Dallas, Strokers Ice House Bar, and Punch Wally Garage. Rick was raised on motorcycles and started riding when he was just seven years old. When he was 19 he went to work for his Great Uncle who owned a chain of paint stores called Roach Paint Company. These stores later became Glidden Paint Company. After 20 years in the paint business, and never missing…

BTR Biker Legend – Jody Perewitz, the fastest woman on two wheels
This issue in Biker Legends we focus on Jody Perewitz, the fastest woman on two wheels and daughter to world renowned custom bike builder and the “father of flames” Dave Perewitz. Jody grew up around motorcycles and bikers, hanging out at Dave’s shop in Brockton, Massachusetts. She currently runs the marketing side of the business at Cycle Fab. She is also a bike builder in her own right and is one hell of a racer. Jody currently holds sixteen Land Speed records, one of which is a World Record. She is the fastest woman to ever ride an American V-twin-powered…

Generation To Generation – A poem by Antoine de Saint-Exupery
In a house which becomes a home, one hands down and another takes up the heritage of mind and heart, laughter and tears, musings and deeds. Love, like a carefully loaded ship, crosses the gulf between the generations. Therefore, we do not neglect the ceremonies of our passage: when we wed, when we die, and when we are blessed with a child; When we depart and when we return; When we plant and when we harvest. Let us bring up our children. It is not the place of some official to hand to them their heritage. If others impart to…

We are Born to Ride!

We are Born to Ride!
As I’m writing my column for June, it’s into the later part of May and I’m wondering what to do this Memorial Day weekend. “What IS there to do?” I ask myself. Looking at my social/events calendar, everything seems to be canceled, postponed, or rescheduled for a later date. But I wanna RIDE! Remember we are Born to Ride! Yeah, that’s it. The “where” doesn’t really matter. At least not to my wife, or me. Just being able to get out there and enjoy it, enjoy the weather, enjoy the scenery, enjoy the ride. That’s what it’s all about. Please…

Here Goes Everybody
Here goes everybody. The moment you’ve been waiting for. More sarcastic and raw points of view from your own Nefarious James. Being upfront, not everybody will agree with me. That’s the beauty of American freedom. Don’t expect me to really care about your point of view or if this hurts your feelings. Grab your crying towel or whatever you need to get ready for this because here it comes both barrels. I am friggin at wits’ end with all this virus shit and stimulus checks that everyone is hoping to receive. Fed up with complacent citizens of this country willing…

Elsa Rosenberg Florida Ride Or Die Magazine Rider Profile
Elsa Rosenberg Elsa has been a part of the Bay Area sportbike scene since 2001. Originally from India, as a young girl Elsa rode just about anything she could get her hands on – as long as her family didn’t find out! “I started out riding bicycles, mopeds, scooters, and motorcycles. My family didn’t approve of riding motorcycles due to them worrying about me getting hurt.” Leaving India for something new to do, Elsa landed in Los Angeles. “I wanted a fresh start from India. I wanted to get out and come to the United States. I decided to get…

Liz Lewis Florida Ride Or Die Magazine Rider Feature
Born To Ride Women’s World has always been dedicated to women that have a unique and wonderful story to tell in regards to their life on two (or three) wheels! The month of May has always been “set aside” in the motorcycling world to promote women riders. To me, every day is about women riders! This year, I celebrate 40 years in the wind. I started when it wasn’t cool let alone “normal.” But I persevered and accomplished many good things in promoting women in the exciting world of motorcycling. Born To Ride is dedicating this column to three women…

JP, Has everyone gone nuts?
I know there is a “new” virus running around the world. And I know that it’s in the United States. But c’mon now people, we’ve already been through a lot, and we’re healthy, and we’re gonna make it through this one. Motorcycle events are canceled, or postponed. Same thing with auto shows, sporting events, schools, restaurants, government offices, even jobs.....you name it. But I am still hoping that the government doesn’t decide to shut down the internet “for our safety”. Y’all know what I’m talking about. A possibility of catching the Coronavirus thru osmosis, or something equally stupid. “Stay away…

Nick Amrhein The Shop – Tattoo Portrait Photography Series
The tattoo portrait series I’ve created is called THE SHOP, which is a series of 10 heavily tattooed individuals. I wanted to feature not only their tattoos but their personality as well. I shot the portraits waist up and close so they would stand out and pop. The photos were all shot in studio on a white background and then cut out and composited onto a grungy brick wall to make it more fitting for the style I wanted to provoke. The concept was just to shoot unique individuals with tattoos and showcase them in a series. They came from…

Unspoken Responsibility by Nefarious James
First and foremost I am proud to be an American and an American citizen. That seems to be taken for granted by a lot of people out there but with that statement comes a lot of unspoken responsibility. Our country and the world are currently going through life-changing, historical, times right now. We are shaping and molding a new image of the world we live in. I got to say this, and I’m putting it out there for the whole world to read, what the hell is wrong with a majority of the people living here? We were a country…

Polk County Back Roads to Roscoe’s & More – Finz Finds Rides
Here is a nice self-guided back road ride through Polk County, starting in Fort Meade and stopping at Roscoe’s Ole Time Drag Races and Swap Meet, then heading over to Fun Bike Center Motorsports and MoJo’s restaurant in Lakeland. Heading out of Fort Meade, you will take what are known as the mining roads up to Bartow. Agricola Road and Noralyn Mine Road are old Florida mining roads that are still used by the phosphate mining companies today. These roads have nice sweepers and are seldom visited by cars. I am always trying to let you know of roads less…

Highrise Harley – Women’s World
By Myra McElhaney Highrise Harley After spending most of my life on the back of someone else’s bike; I got my license and bought a bike at the ripe old age of 59. When my husband died, I missed him, and I missed riding with him. One of those things I could change! Learning to ride had to be easier than finding another good husband with a bike! At first, I just wanted to learn to ride. I didn’t know if I’d ever get a bike of my own. I just couldn’t see how it would fit into my lifestyle.…

Let me introduce you to Thom Lillie of Lille Glassblowers, Inc.
Let me introduce you to Thom Lillie of Lille Glassblowers, Inc. A couple of years ago I was sitting on the patio reading the morning paper and I noticed an article about a glassblower who had a studio in Smyrna, Georgia. At the time I was looking for someone or something to photograph and I thought that the art of blowing glass could be a great subject. I googled the name of the glassblowing studio, and when I contacted them to tell them what I was interested in doing I was told to come on up. I threw a flash…
