Last Ride of Rolling Thunder
Last Ride of Rolling Thunder Washington, DC - After 32 years of riding to our nation’s capital in support of America’s military, veterans, POWs and MIAs, the annual Rolling Thunder “Ride For Freedom” will be permanently parked after the May 2019 event. Citing increased conflicts with Pentagon parking officials and annual rising costs to put on the weekend of events, RT leaders decided to “hit the brakes” following this next upcoming ride. Edel Weiss Lite : A Three-Day Adventure in South Africa
As I climb out of my comfortable bed in the dark before dawn, the adrenaline coursing through my veins has any triple shot at Starbucks beat. Scratching around with a 20-watt side lamp, I want to make sure nothing is left out of my camera bag. As I am stepping out into the cool, morning air, daylight is tearing the black curtain behind the distant mountains revealing a mouth-watering display of color. Lights are on in the row of small cabins in front of me. I hear voices floating across the African landscape as excited as I to start this…

Controlling Skids – Ride Safe Ride Smart

Controlling Skids – Ride Safe Ride Smart
Though the first time it happens it will no doubt be alarming, a skidding tire isn’t necessarily a hazardous situation, and certainly no reason for undue panic. Knowing what actions to take will help you avoid a panic response, and allow you to correct the skid with a minimum of drama. Rear-wheel skids are more common during sudden, maximum braking. In simplified terms, this is because during deceleration (due to braking force) much of the load on the rear wheel transfers to the front wheel, decreasing the amount of traction available to the rear tire, making it easier for the…

CMA Christian Motorcyclists Association
One thing I have noticed over the years of riding is that you never know what’s going to happen five miles up the road, or sometimes before you even get out of the driveway! Life truly is, as described by Forest Gump’s mother in the movie “Forest Gump, “You never know what you’re going to get.” One day I had to visit a patient and decided to take the bike to his house as I knew he loved all things mechanical. I had just had the thousand-mile service performed but discovered when I went to get on the bike that…

4 Things to help your family if you’re involved in an accident
When a serious car or motorcycle accident occurs, it is often a family member or significant other who is contacting an attorney on behalf of the injured party. While I hope neither you nor your family are ever in this situation, all motorists should share vital information with a trusted emergency contact to help ensure they’re adequately prepared in the event of an accident. Below is a list of information to keep up to date and share with your family member or significant other. 1. Medical Insurance: Provide your emergency contact with the name of your insurance company and your…

The Wonder of the Wise Men – Rob Brooks
Ever since I was a child, I’ve always been intrigued by the account of the wise men in the New Testament book of Matthew 2:1-12, these magi (from the Greek term “magoi” meaning “wise men” or “learned ones”) who crossed a continent to visit and pay homage to the Christ Child. Even now, as a moto-traveler and part-time history teacher, the story and journey of these men is a yearly favorite of mine to read and reflect upon during this season. You probably know the story of how they showed up in Jerusalem not long after Jesus’ birth, inquiring as…

Wreaths Across America
“We had the privilege of visiting Wreaths Across America’s National Headquarters in Columbia Falls, Maine. Although we have sponsored the wreath laying event in Bushnell for several years, touring their facility and forest gave us a true appreciation of the meaning “From Stem to Stone.” Morrill Worcester, his family and volunteers do such an incredible job teaching our youth the importance of honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting our freedom. It was truly humbling to learn and understand their mission: Remember our fallen US Veterans, Honor those who serve, Teach your children the value of freedom! - FRAN…
