Think For Yourself – Nefarious James
Here we are in October and one of my favorite times of the year. Heading into fall with cooler weather, and of course, Halloween coming up. With colder weather moving in around the country, it’s time for some of us to start planning whether to winterize our bikes for the cold weather or to figure out what we’re gonna wear to stay warm. I for one ride all year round so I guess that doesn’t really apply to me. I know others that follow suit but we are fortunate with our weather down here in Florida. I think we are…

The Cherokee Blue Ridge Run and Choppertown Custom Chopper Show!
Welcome to the awesome October issue of Born To Ride! Autumn is here and there’s nothing like a ride in that crisp autumn air. Hey, last month we held one helluva a bike show. September 10th through the 12th was the Blue Ridge Run in Cherokee, North Carolina, where the Cherokee Blue Ridge Run Born To Ride Choppertown Ride-In Show kicked some serious butt! If you were there, you know there were some amazing custom choppers on display. Classic Easyriders magazine photographer Brad Patton was on hand to shoot all those bikes and maybe even YOU! Check out the killer…

Squawk on the Wild Side – Spyke & Mike

Squawk on the Wild Side – Spyke & Mike
Holy crap my BTR friends, it's still hotter than donut grease at a fat man's convention! When Mike makes me poop and it hits the sidewalk in the sun, those turds just sizzle like carnival elephant ears! September used to be the start of cooler weather, but I don't think Mother Nature sees it that way. Undoubtedly for the past decade, she's been disregarding the Labor Day weekend/end-of-summer ritual by staying on an extra-long vacation in Hades. Of course some are blaming the exceptionally hot days and global warming on the release of greenhouse gases and raising the sea level.…

Don’t Believe Everything You Read

Don’t Believe Everything You Read
How in the world do we even know what to believe anymore? It unfortunately appears that we are surrounded with so much misinformation that it is hard to tell the truth from the lies and the fairytales. It’s like when you ask that new rider how long he’s been riding and he’ll either tell you he took his first cross-country trip on his 1947 knucklehead when he was younger or that he grew up riding dirt bikes. Then you watch him leave the parking lot, and he almost dumps his bagger on the ground. Hearing honesty out of people has…

Rise Again – Just as the Phoenix rose from the ashes, so too will Sabrina Best.
Humankind is at its best when it takes a personal tragedy and turns it into a way to help others. Such people rise above the pain and sorrow of loss to create an enduring legacy. One such person is Heather Cooper, who lost her daughter Sabrina to a Fentanyl overdose last year. Rising above her grief, Heather created the Sabrina Best Foundation to provide support to women and their families in an effort to obtain quality treatment programs, recovery housing, and counseling for addiction. Born To Ride is a proud sponsor of the Sabrina Best Foundation and Rise Again’s 2nd…

The Basic Left-Turn

The Basic Left-Turn
Ride Safe Ride Smart Approaching a busy four-way intersection there are a lot of elements to monitor: cross traffic may or may not stop for the light; pedestrians could step out at any time; an oncoming car waiting to turn left could fail to detect your presence and turn left in front of you. Sure enough, just as you approach the intersection, the car in the opposing left-turn lane swings into your path. You brake hard and swerve at the last second, barely avoiding a broadside collision. Strategy: Without a doubt, this scenario is a frequent hazard for motorcyclists riding…

Spyke and Mike MOTOFEST MADNESS
Whoa Nellie! If you missed it, you missed a whole lot of beautiful steel horses in one place. If you were there, you know that no words can totally convey what went down the stretch. I’m squawking about the Great American Motofest that ran at the Boss Hogg ranch. Mike, Cherry and I were so busy treating the fans to one hell of a mechanical equestrian event that we totally lost track of time. Before we knew it, most of our friends were beating the dusty trail home in front of the inevitable rain that was en route. All day…

Biker Movie Review – The Mini-Skirt Mob

Biker Movie Review – The Mini-Skirt Mob
This month Born To Ride reviews the Mini-Skirt Mob, another in a series of horrible old biker films for your entertainment. In some cases “the older the more horrible” comes to mind when dealing with these movies. This one was produced in 1968, and rates right (down) there with the best of the worst! The plot bears more than a few similarities to Satan’s Sadists (which I have previously reviewed for BTR). In this case, it’s Shayne, the psychotic female leader of The “Mini Skirts” played by Diane McBain and her hair-do, stalking the innocent young couple along with her…

Readers Ride – Freddy Barron’s Freewheeler Trike
John “Freddy” Barron of Unadilla, Georgia, has always loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Now at over 80 years of age, this former paratrooper with the famous 82nd Airborne Division, decided to let Tifton Harley in Tifton, Georgia, customize his Harley Freewheeler trike. Freddy purchased the trike new from the dealership back in 2018. Freddy had added a lot of chrome over the past few years but decided that he was ready to change the look of the trike. Tifton Harley handled the customization from the gas tank forward with a 30-inch forged chrome front wheel, two front disc brakes and matching rear…

Respect & Honor Starts at Home
Well, here we go with August. As always hot and miserable but we get out there and ride our bikes anyway. Time for Sturgis, road trips and parties that revolve around the idea of not being able to afford to go to Sturgis. We want to hold events praising America and stating how proud we are to be Americans, while at the same time, we have individuals out there disrespecting our country, troops, first responders and veterans. Organizations gathering out there that hold the belief that way to get respect is to be heard. Not by proper actions or popular…
