Readers Ride – Freddy Barron’s Freewheeler Trike
John “Freddy” Barron of Unadilla, Georgia, has always loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Now at over 80 years of age, this former paratrooper with the famous 82nd Airborne Division, decided to let Tifton Harley in Tifton, Georgia, customize his Harley Freewheeler trike. Freddy purchased the trike new from the dealership back in 2018. Freddy had added a lot of chrome over the past few years but decided that he was ready to change the look of the trike. Tifton Harley handled the customization from the gas tank forward with a 30-inch forged chrome front wheel, two front disc brakes and matching rear…

The Green Swamp Preserve – Born To Ride Finz Rides
For some reason every time I hear the Talking Heads song Road to Nowhere I think of riding a motorcycle, jumping on the scoot with the intention exploring new roads or scenery. Here’s a suggestion for an exploration ride, the Green Swamp Preserve. The Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve is located in the fourcorner area of Lake, Pasco, Polk, and Sumter counties. How you get there is up to you. What does matter is you realize this is an exploration ride, so don’t be afraid to go left when the directions tell you to go right. Don’t take the following directions…

Dirty’s Trouble Maker, Josh Kurpuis

Dirty’s Trouble Maker, Josh Kurpuis
I built this bike with the premise that I could barhop and smoke anyone light to light, or hop on and go 1,000 miles on the weekend. Happy to say ... have done both! That’s the good part of the story. The first build of this bike was slightly different, Denver’s springer, magneto, and a few other differences. On the way to Smokeout East, I pulled into JW’s place in Wilson, NC and the throttle stuck— launching me into the woods!!! Missed most of the trees! However, the last tree really de-raked the front end. Trailered it the last 50…

Brian Harlow’s Minnow-’58 H-D FL
Brian Harlow's Minnow-'58 H-D FL This 1958 Harley-Davidson FL will always be parked at the lodge for so many reasons. The reliability and pure enjoyment of this bike is undeniable, followed by the amount of friends that have played a part in its coming together on the cheap. The bike doesn’t test me or tempt me—it’s just a harmonious relationship between man and machine. There is nothing more than I can ask for! So as the paint fades and the cases start to drip there will be no love lost but rather stories to tell and miles to go.…

Three Amigos Ride Baja
An extended road trip across the deep Southwest has long been one of my bucket list items. In March, I fulfilled that dream in grand fashion. MotoQuest, one of America’s premier motorcycle tour companies, granted me the opportunity to ride along on one of their “Baja Adventure” tours, from Cabo San Lucas at the bottom of the peninsula, 1,500 miles north to Los Angeles. It simply doesn’t get any more “deep Southwest” than Baja. Accompanied by two childhood chums, Lyle and Jimmy, we flew into Cabo and met up with Darin, Lyle’s son and MotoQuest tour guide, and his bride…
