Spyke and Mike – There is light at the end of the tunnel
Whatttsup my BTR friends? Mike and I hope all is well in your neck of the woods as we make the best of it in ours. He repeats to me daily the age old proverb: There is light at the end of the tunnel. With all the life-altering events that have happened recently, most of you would think he's referring to COVID or social injustice situations. But in our case, it's the results of a catastrophic accident that occurred to us on June 22, 2019 while riding the Fat Bird 2. In a nutshell (using this term wisely) he was…

TECH TIP – Smoothing Out Your Ride

TECH TIP – Smoothing Out Your Ride
A lot of HOG riders sometimes think that the ”V” in V-twin stands for vibration. This idea comes from the unique mechanical activity that takes place down in our bike’s drivetrain. First you have a couple of pistons and connecting rods moving up and down inside two cylinders. They are not operating in a completely balanced non-vibrating environment. This unbalanced motive power is sent to the transmission through a primary drive that uses a spring tensioned motor sprocket and chain drive assembly running back to the transmission. The bike’s final drive runs a reinforced cog belt back to the rear…

BE the Change and Think Motorcycle!

BE the Change and Think Motorcycle!
I had a nice happy little article all written up for this month, laced with my usual sarcastic banter. But as of the writing, I had to partake in yet another memorial for a young man who senselessly lost his life to a cage driver who was too busy with whatever it was he or she was doing to not pay attention to their surroundings. I can’t imagine anything being more important while behind the wheel than paying attention to the task of driving. Whatever activity it was that motorist was doing instead of watching the road, watching their fellow…

Xavier Muriel – Rock ‘n’ Roll Bike Builder – Builds the Custom Giveaway Bike for the High Seas Rally!
“To say that being part of a multi-platinum, international touring rock band was a dream come true would be a vast understatement. No kid ever says to himself, ‘When I graduate I’m gonna move to Hollywood and become a Rock Star’ and thinks that it can come true. Well, truth be told, it didn’t for me,” Xavier Muriel tells us. “I was 34 and on my third trip back to the west coast before it actually happened.” Xavier is famous for being the rock ‘n’ roll drummer for the band Buckcherry. “As I look back on it, I would have…

Readers Ride – Kalie’s Killer Sporty
Kalie Maden is a biker to the core. She’s a wrench, building cool scooters and the bike seen here is her personal ride. Born To Ride asked her how long she’s been riding motorcycles. “It all started when I was just 10 years old,” Kalie tells us. “Santa Claus brought me a Yamaha TTR-90. I was immediately in LOVE as soon as I hopped on and rode around the backyard. Needless to say, 17 years later, I am still just as in love, if not more, with motorcycles. With such as cool Christmas gift, we had to ask if Kalie’s…

SPRING HAS SPRUNG!

SPRING HAS SPRUNG!
It’s springtime in Florida and we’re feeling the full effects my BTR friends. The pollen covers everything with a green haze and makes everyone sneeze a lot. The spring breakers acting stupid at the beach makes the locals green with disdain. Mike boils eggs way too long and turns the yolks green that makes for funny looking deviled eggs after losing the Easter egg cracking contest down at our local pub. Speaking of eggs, it’s that season for me to pop out a few. Mike cuts me off saying, “for the past few years I’ve been forgetting about your motherly…

Knox Murray, Born To Race
When Knox Murray was just four-years-old, his parents took him to see the Supercross races at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The family enjoyed an evening of two-wheeled motocross madness in all its glory and Knox studied every move by the racers. When Knox walked out of that Stadium, the young boy looked up at his folks and said, “That’s what I want to do!” “He begged us to get him a dirt bike for two years,” Knox’s mom Melissa Murray recalls. “We finally got him one and he took off and has never looked back!” Knox is now…
