Finding Contentment
For my 50th birthday, my wife blessed me with a new Harley Road King Classic. I was flying high! Previously, I had a competitive bike, but it just didn’t sound like a Harley, it didn’t look like a Harley, and most of all, it didn’t ride like a Harley. I absolutely loved the classic retro look the new bike had. My wife and I loved riding it, but over time we discovered that the bike was limited for use as a ministry ride. We needed more storage room to carry ministry materials, and when we rode two up, it was…

CHRISTIAN MOTORCYCLISTS ASSOCIATION
There is nothing quite like getting in the saddle and taking the time to get some wind therapy. People ask me how I can stand being on a hot motorcycle in the summer, while wearing a leather vest with my jeans and boots. When it is cool out I am questioned about tolerating the chilly air that flows through my helmet and stiffens my cold hands. Frankly, the discomforts are simply not significant! I can’t be as crazy as they think because, many times when I am riding, I am a part of a group. Going to the next ice…

In spite of what you many think, Hwy 44 in Citrus County near Crystal River, Florida, has not in recent years become an unsanctioned race track. When I was working I used to travel Hwy 44 twice a day and more often on weekends. When my wife and I first noticed the change in how many people were proclaiming themselves as the “King of the Road,” we were shocked. I’ve seen NASCAR races where the drivers were safer and more considerate of others. As unnerving as this situation is, it is vastly multiplied when you are on a bike. One…

There is nothing quite like riding in the mountains of North Georgia and the Carolinas
There is nothing quite like riding in the mountains of North Georgia and the Carolinas. For the most part, the high traffic roads are easily ridden and full of sightseeing opportunities. Perhaps one of the best features of these bigger roads is that most of them are four or five lanes wide, making for an easier ride and fewer difficult passages. This means that we can ride without fear and trembling, and simply kick back and admire the beauty of the area. There is a “monument” to the trickery of more difficult roads, located at the start of the Tail…

Recently, I decided to get back on my bike – CMA Christian Motorcyclists Association
Recently, I decided to get back on my bike, after a long time of not being in the saddle. I don’t really know how it came to pass that the bike got ignored, and began gathering dust. I think it was a combination of medical challenges, a brutally hot summer, and focusing on other things. When I did get back on the bike, my riding skills and confidence were in the toilet. I was acutely aware of the 900 pounds of machine that I was holding up, and it took a little time of acclimation to get used to it…

When My Focus is Right, My Ride Through Life is a Joy
Years ago, when I decided to start riding again, I discovered that I had to take a riding course to get a certificate to get a motorcycle endorsement. I called around and found the opportunity to take a short refresher course with an instructor and then pass a riding test in order to get that necessary piece of paper.   During the refresher course, the instructor covered several basic riding truths, ideas that I had never known about in previous years. I had, in ages past, learned to ride a dirt bike and without further training, got a street bike…
