The MSF Encourages Drivers to Expect to See Motorcyclists IRVINE, Calif., April 9, 2015 – April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation would like to remind drivers that motorcyclists are out there. “Fender-benders are rare in collisions involving motorcycles,” said MSF President Tim Buche. “When two cars collide, the result is often minor damage that’s repaired a few weeks later once insurance kicks in. However, when a car hits a motorcyclist, there is often direct vehicle-to-human contact. I can’t imagine the lasting guilt of doing harm to a person who has a life, and a family…

I occasionally assist attorneys with motorcycle crash cases as an expert witness. Back in 2010, I was involved in a case where a 20-year-old rider on a Hayabusa broad sided an 18-wheeler. The impact speed was estimated at 75 mph. The rider was killed almost instantly. His speed prior to impact was estimated to be around 100 mph. The speed limit on this road was 45 mph and the rider had a clear line of sight of at least ¼ mile and it was a bright and clear day. The rider’s mother was suing the company that owned the truck…
Hot diggity dog my BTR friends, it's March and to bikers that means Daytona time! Last year Mike and I took the long way from the west coast through the forest ending up in Flagler Beach at John and Karen’s shanty on the inter-coastal. WHY RIDE Why did I start to ride so many ask? I thought about my answer. As long as I can remember, the sound of a motorcycle would get me excited. When one passed me by, my heart would pound and I would imagine riding off into the sunset. My family continually told me ladies don’t ride motorcycles. I was told one too many times and simply decided I had to try it. I guess you can say I did it because I was told I couldn’t! How can I explain it, especially to those who have never ridden a…
