“The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.”Albert Einstein

The Bikers C.A.R.E. annual Pinwheel Run is one of the largest escorted rides in Citrus County and is held in support of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The ride serves two purposes. First, it’s a fundraiser to support the efforts of local Child Advocacy Centers serving Pasco, Hernando, Lake/Sumter, and Citrus counties. These agencies are on the front lines in the battle to end child abuse and are instrumental in ensuring abusers go to prison and in aiding in victim recovery.100% of all of our fundraising efforts are shared equally among these agencies. Bikers C.A.R.E. doesn’t keep a dime!

Second, it is to build awareness and encourage all to get involved. Child abuse is too soft a term to describe what abused children suffer through. Physical abuse? No. It’s assault, attempted murder, or even murder. Sexual abuse? No. It’s rape, sexual assault, and incest.

The United States has one of the worst records among industrialized nations regarding the protection of its children – losing on average between four and seven children every day to child abuse and neglect. More than 70% of the children who died due to child abuse or neglect were two years of age or younger. More than 80% were not yet old enough for kindergarten. The sad part is that the majority of abuse can be prevented.

These children did not have to suffer. They did not have to die. But it’s going to take YOU to make a difference. Children can’t stop abuse but TOGETHER, we can!
