PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The American Motorcyclist Association expressed concern to a U.S. House subcommittee about possible damage to motorcycle and all-terrain vehicle engines caused by the inadvertent use of E15 when the new fuel becomes widely available. In testimony to the House Subcommittee on the Environment during a hearing on "Mid-Level Ethanol Blends: Consumer and Technical Research Needs" on Feb. 26, Wayne Allard, AMA vice president for government relations, said that motorcycles and ATVs should be part of any scientific study into the effects of E15 on engines to ensure that the new fuel blend won't damage those engines. CALIFORNIA LAWMAKER WITHDRAWS BILL THAT WOULD HAVE RESTRICTED LANE-SPLITTING BY MOTORCYCLISTS

PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The sponsor of a California Senate bill that would have restricted the current practice of lane-splitting by motorcyclists will withdraw the bill from consideration, the American Motorcyclist Association reports.  Lane-splitting by motorcyclists in California is recognized by the California Highway Patrol and helps ease traffic flow. An aide to state Sen. Jim Beall (D-San Jose), who sponsored S.B. 350, confirmed in an email to the AMA Tuesday afternoon that the bill would be withdrawn, pending the results of a University of California-Berkeley safety study expected later this year. Scott who has been missing since December 1, 1950. Robert was assigned to the 31st Regimental Combat Team - Heavy Mortar Company who were engaged along the eastern banks of the Chosin Reservoir near Sinhung-ri, South Hamgyong Province, in North Korea against a vastly superior number of enemy forces. On December 1, 1950, Robert was reported MIA (Missing in Action) along with others in his unit. EPA WANTS SEPARATE E10 FUEL PUMPS AT CERTAIN GAS STATIONS THAT SELL E15 ETHANOL-GASOLINE BLEND

PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- In response to concerns expressed by the American Motorcyclist Association and power equipment makers, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued new guidelines to help ensure that motorcyclists and others don't inadvertently use E15 fuel. E15 is a new fuel blend of 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent gasoline that the EPA has approved for use in 2001-and-newer passenger vehicles. The blend isn't approved for use in motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, boats, lawn mowers and other engines, and may even damage them and void warranties. Military and Music I would like to extend my personal condolences to Chris Kyle’s Family and his SEAL Team family along with Chad Littlefield’s family for their tragic loss. On Saturday, February 1, Chris Kyle (Navy Chief Petty Officer), age 38 was shot and killed along with Chad Littlefield, age 35. Kyle, Littlefield, and Eddie Ray Routh (the shooter) were at the Rough Creek Lodge, which is approximately 90 minutes from Dallas, Texas. MIC REPORTS MOTORCYCLE SALES AMONG LEADING BRANDS UP IN 2012

Scooters, Dual-Purpose Motorcycles Lead the Increase   IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 6, 2013 – The Motorcycle Industry Council reports that retail sales increased 2.6 percent last year among 19 leading manufacturers tracked by the trade association. And for the first time since 2002, all four segments (scooter, dual, on-highway and off-highway) showed increases in year-over-year new unit sales, according to the MIC’s Retail Sales Report.   Scooters posted the most significant rate of growth with an increase of 7.7 percent, while dual-purpose motorcycles also showed impressive growth with a rise of 7.4 percent.
