Dirty’s Trouble Maker, Josh Kurpuis
I built this bike with the premise that I could barhop and smoke anyone light to light, or hop on and go 1,000 miles on the weekend. Happy to say ... have done both! That’s the good part of the story. The first build of this bike was slightly different, Denver’s springer, magneto, and a few other differences. On the way to Smokeout East, I pulled into JW’s place in Wilson, NC and the throttle stuck— launching me into the woods!!! Missed most of the trees! However, the last tree really de-raked the front end. Trailered it the last 50…

My First Father’s Day
After about 5 years of agonizing scans procedures, chemo, and once a week checkups, I have to endure My First Father’s Day without my best friend, mentor, and most of all just Dad. The prayers for longevity are all over, but the “how’s your dad doing” are still coming from the ones that you just don’t see very often, bringing back the feelings, although for shorter lengths of time. But now I’ll have all waking hours of Father’s Day to remember him. My father and I have always shared a lot of time together, some of which was discussing our…

Supreme Court sides with Motorcyclists’ Rights in Virginia Search Case
Police Without Warrant Inspected Vehicle in Property Owner's Driveway PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that the warrantless police search of a motorcycle on private property was an "invasion of the sanctity" of the area around the house, even though authorities believe the motorcycle may have been stolen. The 8-1 decision bolsters the protections for outside areas around a home when law enforcement agencies do not have a search warrant. The American Motorcyclist Association filed an amicus brief in the case in November, stating that "there is nothing inherently suspicious-and no inherent justification for a search-in the…

Riding My Own By Myra McElhaney When I first met my husband Phil, I was excited that he had a motorcycle. I loved riding with a neighborhood guy during high school and looked forward to being on back of a bike again. Phil had a Yamaha 650. He later upgraded to a Goldwing then eventually a Harley-Davidson Tour Glide. We loved riding in the mountains of North Georgia on weekends and occasionally we’d take a longer trip. We rode and camped with another couple on the Natchez Trace. A few years later, with the same couple, we rode from Atlanta…

June was terrified, excited and hooked. She loved it! Unfortunately, at the end of that short ride, June’s mama was furious. “If I ever catch you on the back of a motorcycle again I’ll beat you half to death,” her mama admonished. “You can die on those things!” As a teen, June’s first boyfriend William had a bike.
