Three-Wheeled Vehicle Classification

Three-Wheeled Vehicle Classification
Three-Wheeled Vehicle Classification Three-wheeled vehicles such as the Slingshot and Can-Am Spider are becoming more popular, and thus more questions have arisen about classification, licensing, and helmets. In July 2018, the Dept. of Public Safety Legal Review sent out the following information: O.C.G.A. 40-1-1(29) defines a motorcycle as every motor vehicle having a seat or saddle for use of the rider and designed to travel on not more than three wheels in contact with the ground, excluding a tractor, all-terrain vehicle, and moped. Therefore, these vehicles are generally considered to be motorcycles. Despite the general classification of a Slingshot as…

Winning Battles, Losing the War
Winning Battles, Losing the War MotoAmerica Epic Season Ender at Barber The MotoAmerica motorcycle road racing season wrapped up at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama this past weekend, in two days marked by devastating crashes, fierce competition, the retiring of a legend, and the crowning of the 2018 champions. An epic weekend to end an epic season. With most class championships sewn up by the New Jersey round earlier in September, the MotoAmerica staff nonetheless predicted stiff competition across the two days of racing, with riders battling for the remaining points and podiums, and their drive to finish strong…

Elias Bounces Back To Win PittRace Superbike Race
Elias Wins Last-Lap War With Beaubier WAMPUM, PA (August 26, 2018) – When it comes to last-lap battles, they don’t get much better than the final lap of today’s Motul Superbike race between Toni Elias and Cameron Beaubier in the Championship of Pittsburgh at Pittsburgh International Race Complex. The 18-lap Motul Superbike race came down to the very last lap of the 2.78-mile PittRace course and featured several close passes by both riders. In the end, though, victory went to Elias and his Yoshimura Suzuki – by just .046 of a second from Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing’s Beaubier. It was…

Stopping for School Bus Changes in Georgia
Summer is officially over for thousands of school kids. Now that school is back in session, drivers need to be alert for kids and buses on the roads. On July 1st, Governor Nathan Deal signed House Bill 978 into law. House Bill 978 helped set up automated speed traps in school zones, but in one paragraph it also amended the law for driver's passing school buses. Before, only a grass or concrete median meant drivers heading in the opposite direction didn't have to stop. Now, in addition to a median, if there's a turn lane present when a bus is…

The “Killer Bs” of Sonoma Raceway
Cameron Beaubier and JD Beach dominated their race classes, Superbike and Supersport, this past weekend at Sonoma Raceway, with both riders taking commanding wins both days at the renowned track. In Superbike, Beaubier ran away from the pack Saturday and Sunday on his Monster Energy/Graves Yamaha R1, leaving the challengers Josh Herrin and Toni Elias to fight over the scraps of 2nd and 3rd place, which they swapped both days. Beaubier considers Sonoma his home track, and the California native has made the home crowd proud the past two years, taking every race he has started here. “It really was…

Andrea Dovizioso Finishes Third in the Austrian GP Jorge Lorenzo scored a splendid victory in the Austrian Grand Prix, round 11 of the MotoGP World Championship, which was held today at the Red Bull Ring circuit near Zeltweg in Styria. The rider from Mallorca, who started from the front row of the grid following yesterday’s third place in qualifying, opted to begin the race with ‘soft’ tyres both front and rear, and after leading over the line at the end of the opening lap, he was then passed by Marquez, whom he followed until lap 18 together with Dovizioso. FIFTH VICTORY FOR BAGNAIA IN AUSTRIA_MOTO2
Spielberg (Austria), August 12, 2018 - It was another incredible Sunday for Sky Racing Team VR46 the one that has just ended at the Austrian GP. Francesco Bagnaia and Luca Marini, in fact, give to the Team the second double podium of the year, the only teammates to have hit this result in 2018 in Moto2. After a difficult start, with a contact with Quartararo and a small gap to mend from Oliveira, Pecco manages to set his pace and, tenth by a tenth, he arrives behind the Portuguese. In a two-way battle until the checkered flag, Bagnaia wins thanks…

The Harley-Davidson Motor Co. Archive Collection
We have all heard the rags-to-riches history of one of the most revered motorcycle marques in the world, Harley-Davidson. We’ve heard the story of three Davidsons and a Harley starting the company in a backyard shed and building three vehicles back in 1903. Much of the early history of the company is the subject of conjecture and speculation, but some things we know for sure. In 1903, there were more than 150 domestic motorcycle manufacturers in the United States, 7 of which were located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the same city in which Harley and the Davidsons began building motorcycles. The MotoAmerica Battles Continue At Sonoma Raceway
The Series Heads To Northern California For Round 7 COSTA MESA, CA (August 8, 2018) – Going into last year’s two MotoAmerica Motul Superbike races at Sonoma Raceway, the average margin of victory for the previous 12 races was just 1.03 seconds. Then Cameron Beaubier went and blew that number out of the water with his crushing victories in the two races by 6.44 and 7.22 seconds, respectively. That’s how dominant the Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing-backed Beaubier was a year ago at what he considers one of his two home racetracks. And he needed to be because he came into…
