REGISTRATION OPENS FOR ANNUAL BRUCE ROSSMEYER RIDE FOR CHILDREN

Published on September 10, 2012 under Born To Ride

ORMOND BEACH – Registration is now open for the 18th Annual Bruce Rossmeyer Ride for Children set for Oct. 7 at rideforchildren.com. The motorcycle event has raised more than $4 million to benefit Camp Boggy Creek, a year-round camp for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses.

The Ride for Children will take off with a roar at 10 a.m. with more than 1,000 motorcyclists leaving Destination Daytona on a police escorted, no-feet-down ride to Camp Boggy Creek in Eustis. When riders arrive at the camp, they will enjoy both silent and live auctions, music and a buffet lunch generously donated by Outback Steakhouse.

A pre-ride “Shake Rattle ‘n’ Roll” Sock-Hop will be held Oct. 6 at Destination Daytona. John Hamlin, CEO of Hamlin & Associates, will be inducted into the Bruce Rossmeyer Ride for Children Hall of Fame.

“This Camp changes lives of children with serious illnesses, and it has changed me. Of all the things I am involved with, Camp Boggy Creek is at the top of the list,” said inductee John Hamlin.

The Ride registration page also offers riders the opportunity to fundraise for the children of Camp Boggy Creek, or for volunteers to sign up to help during the ride.

The presenting sponsors are JM Family Enterprises, JM&A Group, and Southeast Toyota. Other sponsors include Hamlin & Associates, Daytona Harley-Davidson, Destination Daytona, Outback Steakhouse, White’s Site Development and S.R. Perrott.

The Rossmeyer family also has continued to remain involved in the Ride for Children even after the passing of Bruce Rossmeyer in 2009, and Sandy Rossmeyer is serving as the honorary chair for the event.

The fundraising goal for the Ride for Children is $370,000. The funds raised will benefit the lives of seriously ill children and their families by enabling them to enjoy a life-enhancing camp experience that is exciting, empowering, memorable, safe and medically sound, at no cost to them.

Several ticket packages ranging from $50 to a $300 VIP Rider package are available. If interested in becoming a sponsor of the ride, or to purchase a $2,500 table to the Sock-Hop, contact Jackie Boykin at 352-483-4121, or jboykin@boggycreek.org.
