Las Vegas Motorcycle Hall of Fame announces the "Easy Rider" himself, Peter Fonda, as inductee into the 2017 class. Peter Fonda, an American actor who started his acting career in the 60's, is an icon of the counterculture of that time. In 1968, Fonda produced, co-wrote and starred in Easy Rider, which was his breakthrough role. Easy Rider is about two long-haired bikers traveling through the southwest and southern United States where they encounter intolerance and violence. PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The American Motorcyclist Association's Horizon Award, which annually recognizes amateur competitors poised for greatness in the professional ranks, has been renamed in honor of the inaugural AMA Horizon Award winner in 1997, Nicky Hayden, who subsequently won the 1999 AMA Supersport Championship, the 2002 AMA Superbike Championship and the 2006 FIM MotoGP World Championship. Former Grand Prix rider Katja Poensgen only signed on to ride for the resurrected Indian brand on June 10, but in the following week she has taken two spectacular wins and generated more race-winning publicity than the brand has had in Europe for a century. And just to add flavor to the story, the 39-year-old's Nitrous-Oxide-burning 185-hp Indian Scout motorcycle is named "Miracle Mike", after a headless chicken of the same name.
