American Motorcyclist Association CEO to Testify Against Motorcycle Tariff
Office of U.S. Trade Representative hearing slated for Feb. 15 PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- American Motorcyclist Association President and CEO Rob Dingman will testify Feb. 15 against a 100 percent tariff on some European motorcycles proposed by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. "We object to this proposed tariff because it would harm American motorcyclists," Dingman said. "Significantly raising the cost of European motorcycles through a tariff could price thousands of families out of the motorcycle market." The tariff would affect motorcycles with engines displacing 51cc to 500cc from Aprilia, Beta, BMW, Ducati, Fantic, Gas Gas, Husqvarna, KTM, Montesa, Piaggio,…

Madison, Wisconsin Police Story
It was the spring of 2014. A regular customer who worked as a police officer came into my shop complaining bitterly about the excessive heat that his 2013 Police motorcycle was generating. Although all V-twin engines run hot, especially when riding at slow speeds, a police motorcycle is a serial offender because of all the slow riding officers must do. I had heard this type of complaint many times before, but I had never heard of a good solution to the problem. I thought of several partial solutions such as an oil cooler or the costly option of rerouting the…

American Motorcyclist Association Objects as U.S. Seeks 100 percent Tariff on some European Bikes
PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The American Motorcyclist Association strongly objects to a federal agency's attempt to tack a 100 percent or higher tariff on motorcycles made in Europe as part of a trade battle over hormones in U.S. beef. The Office of United States Trade Representative requested comments on Dec. 28 regarding its proposal to include tariffs on motorcycles with an engine size between 51cc and 500cc imported from the European Union. The American Motorcyclist Association opposes the proposed tariff, because trade disputes residing within the boundaries of the agricultural industry should not be solved with trade sanctions levied against non-agricultural…

Panhead Randy's Bucket List This “Bucket List” mission began over 42 years ago when I purchased Old Blue at the ripe young age of 18, shortly after graduating from high school along Florida’s east coast. Old Blue is a 1963 Harley-Davidson Panhead that has unselfishly transported me from one destination to another like a magic carpet, always willing to embark on the next adventure. In addition to the day-to-day local riding and fun, Old Blue carried me on several long road trips over the years. In 1975, she took me from the east coast of Florida to the Grand Canyon…
