It’s Time
I have watched our government operate closely for the last 20-25 years. I have made up my mind ‘It’s Time’ we reinstate the military draft. Yes folks I said the draft.
Now before about half of you get yourselves into a tizzy or start packing to go to Canada or somewhere else allow me to explain why I think it’s important.
It seems our elected leaders in Washington have become experts on all things military, law enforcement or anything to do with weapons. Where did they obtain their vast knowledge of those subjects? Seventy-five percent of them didn’t get it from prior experience in the fields they attempt to make you believe they are so knowledgeable in.
Over a period of years I and people like me (with military backgrounds) have been termed to be possible ‘home grown’ terrorists by the likes of Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and by those who we elected to run our country.
Most recently Senate Intelligence Committee (an oxymoron) Chairperson Senator Dianne Feinstein (California) made a couple of bizarre statements recently wherein she said “a military veteran could be mentally ill and suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), therefore should be prevented from buying semi-automatic weapons” and “with the advent of PTSD” which is a “new phenomenon” and a “product of the Iraq war.”
Apparently this woman is a lot younger than she appears. PTSD has been around since WWI; they just called it something different and didn’t know what caused the after effects of war.
It appears we need elected leaders who have some type of military and/or law enforcement background. Then maybe they will understand what it takes to protect the United States and The Constitution of the United States.
If those we elect to work for us had the necessary backgrounds they might understand the overall personal costs involved in protecting what is so near to many voting taxpayers. If the draft were brought back there is a better possibility we as a nation might not be so easily swayed into sending our young people all over the world to save countries that may not want our help, but are more than willing to take our hard earned tax dollars. Those same countries for the most part don’t like us and don’t support our ideas regarding a democratic government.
Now back to the gun issue. If large capacity magazine and semi-auto pistols and rifles are a major problem with those in leadership, maybe we should consider removing them from the Secret Service and local law enforcement personnel who protect our elected leaders. After all we wouldn’t want anyone to get hurt now would we? I would consider giving up my weapons as soon as the federal government does, nah, I that take it back. The Second Amendment says I can have a weapon should I desire, to protect me from the government.
Take time to listen to these songs, maybe they will explain what I mean: youtube.com/watch?v=mxi7bL53eqg and youtube.com/watch?v=NiYv3P2orVI
