American Motorcyclist Association Congratulates 2017 AMA Supermoto National Champions
PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The AMA Supermoto National Championship Series crowned national champions Gage McAllister, Christian Payne and Dave Rock, who earned AMA National No. 1 plates in a season cut short by Hurricane Nate.
McAllister was crowned the 2017 AMA Supermoto Pro Open National Champion after accumulating 194 points in eight races during the four-round series. Payne won the Pro Lites class with 94 points. And Rock took the Amateur class with 62 points.
“With six wins and two runner-up finishes during the 2017 season, Gage McAllister dominated a field of exceptionally talented AMA Supermoto racers and unequivocally stamped his name on the AMA No. 1 plate,” said AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant. “We congratulate all the racers who took to the track this season and competed across the continent for their shot at the podium.”
The AMA Supermoto National Championship Series finale scheduled for Oct. 7 at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Fla., was canceled due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Nate. The race was not rescheduled, and the 2017 champions were determined based on the results of the first four races of the series.
