AIMExpo presented by Nationwide Opens in Columbus with New Model Introductions from Industry’s Most Prominent Manufacturers
A Total of 14 OEM’s Present to Attending Media
COLUMBUS, Ohio (September 21, 2017) – The fifth American International Motorcycle Expo presented by Nationwide (AIMExpo) opened its doors inside the Greater Columbus Convention Center on Thursday as thousands of dealers and industry attendees visited the 500 exhibitors that filled the show floor and AIMExpo Outdoors! Highlighting the activities on Thursday were presentations from 14 manufacturers, both inside the Media Hub and on the exhibitor floor.
After the “The Future Starts Here” keynote address featuring Harley-Davidson CEO Matt Levatich and Polaris CEO Scott Wine got the morning underway, Kawasaki took the stage inside the Media Hub to introduce their latest motorcycle models – notably a brand new KLX250 and the newest updates to its Z lineup.
Legacy exhibitors Suzuki and Yamaha followed inside the Media Hub, with Suzuki showcasing a new GSX250R, inspired by the heritage of its storied Katana model, in addition to the latest VanVan 200, a highly popular entry level bike with retro styling.
The old school influence carried over into Yamaha’s presentation, in which it introduced a pair of new models for its Sport Heritage line – the 40th anniversary SR400 and the new generation XSR700 – which were introduced under the “Faster Sons” Philosophy. Yamaha also introduced the XSR900, the “big brother” to the SR400 and XSR700, along with two new additions to its Yard Built initiative, with a custom XSR700 and XSR900, respectively.
BMW followed with a showcase of the G 310 R naked bike and the introduction of the all electric C Evolution scooter, a popular model in Europe being brought to the U.S. market for the first time in 2018.
On the show floor, first-time exhibitors Harley-Davidson, Indian, and Polaris Slingshot each presented their newest 2018 models to all attendees. Indian took advantage of the opportunity to celebrate its recent success in American Flat Track and newly crowned champion Jared Mees.
Rounding out the Day 1 presentations were Can-Am, who debuted a brand new side-by-side called the Maverick Trail, as well as Cub Cadet, SSR, HiSUN, Doohan, and Tacita.
A full slate of presentations will bring even more products to attendees on Friday, with additional new models from the more than 25 exhibiting manufacturers, along with the latest from the most prominent protective gear and aftermarket companies in the industry.
