35 AMA National Championships to be awarded

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The nation’s top amateur motocross racers will compete for a AMA National Championship at the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., July 31-Aug. 5.

“The Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Amateur National Motocross Championship brings together the fastest amateur racers to compete in the largest amateur motocross event in the country every year,” AMA Motocross Manager Kip Bigelow said. “With this year’s event just around the corner, we are excited to see the immense talent of these racers displayed on the track as they battle to be crowned an AMA National Champion.”

Each rider qualified for the event by placing in the top of their respective class at an AMA Area Qualifier, before advancing to one of seven AMA Regional Championships.

The top riders from each region will be competing at the event and fighting to win one of the AMA National No. 1 plates which will be awarded to the winner of each of the 35 competition classes.

“It’s hard to believe that the Loretta Lynn Ranch will be taken over by the country’s fastest amateur motocross racers at the end of the month,” MX Sports Director Tim Cotter said. “MX Sports, along with the AMA, has worked diligently to ensure this year’s race will be the largest event at the ranch ever, and we look forward to seeing all the riders in Tennessee.”

Dating to 1975, the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship is one of the longest-running motorsports championships in the country. The success of the program, which has produced an impressive number of AMA Supercross and Motocross superstars, is unmatched. Riders who have progressed through the program include AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famers Ricky Carmichael and Jeremy McGrath, as well as current stars such as Eli Tomac and Jason Anderson.
