Tampa Bay Man Set to Embark on Cross-country Trip to Seattle for Diabetes Awareness
TAMPA – On Sunday, May 15, Valrico resident and 2 Wheels 1 Cause founder Neville Lee will begin a solo crosscountry journey on a motorcycle from Tampa, Fla., to Seattle, Wash., to raise awareness about and money for diabetes prevention.
“I’m so excited to take this journey once again across the country for a great cause – to stop diabetes,” said Lee. “Since my Type 2 diabetes diagnosis ten years ago, I’ve been on a mission to show how diabetics can live a full and healthy life with this disease.”
Beginning Sunday, Lee will drive more than 7,000 miles roundtrip and pass through a number of cities including Atlanta, Ga., Seattle, Wash., Los Angeles, Calif., and Phoenix, Ariz., before he returns to Tampa on June 15. He’ll travel through a variety of terrains and climates – from mountainous to desert – all to raise awareness and to motivate, educate, and inspire other diabetics.
According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA), diabetes affects some 30 million
Americans and is the seventh leading cause of death in the country. Lee started 2 Wheels 1
Cause in 2014 to help combat those statistics, reaching more than 300,000 people for the
purpose of diabetes prevention education and awareness.
“I’m looking forward to the day when I’m free of diabetes,” said. Lee. “Until then, it’s my hope that my efforts through 2 Wheels 1 Cause will help bring attention to the disease and compassion toward those who suffer with it.”
