IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 14, 2013 – “Inroads to the Future,” the Motorcycle Industry Council’s15th Annual Communications Symposium, will bring together some of the MIC’s most popular speakers for an informative, thought-provoking and entertaining event. The MIC’s approximately 300 member companies are expected to attend the much-anticipated symposium, which is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Carson Center in Carson, CA.

Past symposium headliners Dr. Paul Leinberger and David Nour will both be on hand this year to share their compelling insights on the current and future states of the powersports market. With today’s consumers basing their buying decisions on shifting perceptions, Leinberger and Nour will address the importance of how to best represent motorcycling, ATVing and ROVing to a quickly evolving customer base.

“We are pleased to welcome back both Paul and David for this year’s event,” said MIC President Tim Buche. “Both have proven themselves invaluable to our symposiums in the past, and we look forward to hearing from them again. Each brings a wealth of expertise to the table and both can disseminate their experience in a casual, yet very effective manner. As always, our overall goal with this symposium is to provide our members with the most timely and useful information in order to support and further their business aims.”

Leinberger is the senior vice president of the Futures Company and will deliver their latest research in his presentation entitled, “2014 State of the Consumer, Into the Sunlight: American Optimism Returns.” According to Leinberger, he’ll be detailing five key opportunity areas associated with today’s emerging consumer mindset.

“Consumers have gone from feeling like they were in the midst of a free-fall to developing a psychological and financial foothold,” said Leinberger. “Though challenges still exist, Americans are finally feeling better and more positive about the future than at any time since The Great Recession. More secure and open than in the recent past, Americans are developing a broader perspective and are moving beyond the hyper-vigilance that characterized the recessionary mindset. Informed by the experience of the past few years, Americans have redefined the meaning of ‘more.’ And they are ‘seeing less in a new light.’”

Growth strategist and best-selling author Nour plans to follow up his very successful Symposium Workshop from last year by sharing his MIC Webinar Series, which detailed six critical opportunities for building relationships with consumers through social media platforms. Additionally, Nour will discuss the “New Norm,” a systematic, disciplined process for understanding, segmenting, anticipating and optimizing great customer experiences.

“When an estimated 75 percent of your target market doesn’t believe your advertising and marketing, how do you get their attention, influence their thinking and garner a call to action?” asked Nour. “Beyond customer service, exceptional relationship experiences are the expected ‘New Norm.’ This session will focus on eight strategies to elevate your brand, team or efforts above the market noise.”

Finally, MIC Board Chair Mark Blackwell and Aftermarket Committee Chair Steve Johnson will join MIC President Buche in sharing key metrics of association management. And each will preview, for the first time, the 2012/2013 MIC Owner Survey Data.

The Motorcycle Industry Council exists to preserve, protect and promote motorcycling through government relations, communications and media relations, statistics and research, aftermarket programs, development of data communications standards, and activities surrounding technical and regulatory issues. As a not-for-profit, national industry association, the MIC seeks to support motorcyclists by representing manufacturers, distributors, dealers and retailers of motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, ROVs, motorcycle/ATV/ROV parts, accessories and related goods and services, and members of allied trades such as insurance, finance and investment companies, media companies and consultants.

The MIC is headquartered in Irvine, Calif., with a government relations office in metropolitan Washington, D.C. First called the MIC in 1970, the organization has been in operation since 1914. Visit the MIC at www.mic.org.
