9TH ANNUAL CRUISE FOR KIDS RAISES $65,000
Tampa Chapter of Credit Unions Holds 9th Annual Cruise for Kids Motorcycle Poker Run Raises $65,000 for Donation to Local Children’s Charities
On Sunday, May 19th, a group of 350 big hearted bikers hit the roads throughout the Tampa Bay area to raise money for local children’s charities. The bikers succeeded in this venture, raising $65,000 as they participated in the 9th Annual Credit Union Cruise for Kids Motorcycle Poker Run, sponsored by the Tampa Chapter of Credit Unions.
The bikers revved up their motorcycles at 9:30am that morning, making three “poker stops” at Brandon, Harley, Tampa Harley, and Jim’s Harley, before ending the ride at the Quaker Steak & Lube Restaurant in Clearwater, FL. There, people turned out for a post-cruise celebration featuring live music by the Jaded Band, 50/50, bike contest, bouncy house, basket raffles and other giveaways.
Renus Knowles of Tampa and Andres Perez of Tampa each won, a $5,000 VISA gift card, sponsored by Fran M. Haasch and the Credit Union Remarketing Solutions. Renus picked up his ticket from Railroad & Industrial Federal Credit Union in Plant City sold by Katie Johnson. Andres picked up his ticket from Railroad & Industrial Federal Credit Union in Seffner.
Over nine years, the annual Credit Union Cruise for Kids has raised a total of $485,000 for donation to organizations which nurture children, such as The Children’s Home, Clothes to Kids, the Boys and Girls Club of Tampa Bay and Hernando Counties, Voices for Children, Make a Wish Foundation, Metropolitan Ministries, For Every Child Hope Totes, Oasis, as well as All Children’s Hospital and the Pediatric Cancer Center. “I want to thank our sponsors, rider participants and everyone’s hard work, dedication and giving spirits that will light up the faces of hundreds of kids throughout our community. Heartfelt thanks and congratulations to everyone involved in making this event come together for the past nine years,” said Sharmon Lenth, Cruise for Kids Committee Chair.
The Tampa Chapter of Credit Unions is made up of area credit unions whose goal is to raise credit union awareness; support its affiliated credit unions by providing educational events for employees; and contribute to community development, charitable causes, and political action that support the credit union movement.
