14th Annual MIC Communications Symposium Offers Industry Information, Workshops, Thought-Provoking Presenters and More

IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 24, 2012 – The Motorcycle Industry Council is hosting its 14th Annual Communications Symposium today at the Carson Center in Carson, Calif. Designed to provide the MIC’s approximately 300 member companies with informative yet entertaining subject matter pertaining to the motorcycle industry, the symposium is titled “Inroads to the Future” and will feature presentations addressing a variety of topics, from the state of the economy to social media. Advance registrations totaling 260 exceed the past record by 20 percent.

“We are very excited about this year’s symposium,” said MIC President Tim Buche. “Traditionally, we’ve tried to ensure that our symposium presentations and topics are informative and practical, yet also entertaining. This year, we’ve again made a concerted effort to host knowledgeable, talented presenters who can provide our members with useful information in a compelling manner.”

This year’s MIC Symposium speakers include Jerry Nickelsburg, senior economist at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management. Nickelsburg is a noted, published economist, specializing in Asian, U.S. and Californian economies. He will kick off the morning’s presentations with his discussion, “Economic Outlook: The Election, Europe, Fiscal Cliffs and Double Dips.”

Following Nickelsburg’s opening discussion, attendees will hear from David Nour, esteemed growth strategist, best-selling author and CEO of The Nour Group. Nour, a motorcycle enthusiast himself, will explore avenues for expanding both the business aspects of the motorcycle industry and the motorcycling community at large. Additionally, Nour will lead an interactive workshop designed to demonstrate the philosophies he outlines in his presentation.

Rounding out this year’s symposium presenters is Patricia Dao of Dominion Powersports Social Ventures. Specializing in social networks and customer relationship management systems, Dao will address 2012 Social Media Trends and their potential influence on the motorcycle industry.

The Motorcycle Industry Council exists to preserve, protect and promote motorcycling through government relations, communications and media relations, statistics and research, aftermarket programs, development of data communications standards, and activities surrounding technical and regulatory issues. As a not-for-profit, national industry association, the MIC seeks to support motorcyclists by representing manufacturers and distributors of motorcycles, scooters, motorcycle/ATV/ROV parts and accessories, and members of allied trades such as insurance, finance and investment companies, media companies and consultants.

The MIC is headquartered in Irvine, Calif., with a government relations office in metropolitan Washington, D.C. First called the MIC in 1970, the organization has been in operation since 1914. Visit the MIC at www.mic.org.
