David and Goliath

For the last year and a half, Congress had prodded, asked for and threatened DOJ Attorney General Holder for certain paperwork regarding the ‘Fast and Furious’ gun program.

In the process there has been delay upon delay, along with the typical stall tactics utilized by lawyers. Simple things like, ‘Oh thought you meant this or that.’

The problem with this face to face engagement between the House Oversight Committee and the respondent (Holder) is the fact that there is no one higher up the chain to complain too. The next logical step would have been the Whitehouse and recently an ‘Executive Privilege’ was thrown into the mix which made it even worse.

Now this is where David (‘We the People’) and Goliath (the government) find themselves standing in the middle of a political battlefield squared off for the fight of our lives.

On one side we have the people who pay taxes and expect our elected or in some cases ‘appointed’ officials to honor the Oath of Office which they took. On the other side we have those in Washington who use our taxes for whatever purpose they see fit and in a lot of case don’t honor their oath.

After twenty-seven years in law enforcement I learned the Department of Justice rules and the Supreme Court decisions were to be followed to the letter, otherwise your case was pretty much worthless.

Today if I were still employed as a Sheriff’s Deputy and had a question regarding a federal law or Florida Statue, who would I call? I can call Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi and get the states take on the law, but if it’s a trickle down law from the federal level who would I ask?

There seems to be more questions than answers with the whole administration no matter what topic you chose.

It is a shame that we as a sovereign nation and republic could come to this point.

When these decisions were made the other day I was so mad I could have thrown my three copies of the ‘The Constitution of the United States’ into a shredder that I have sitting next to my desk.

I have taken the same basic Oath of Office three separate times and I honored it each time. Why can’t the Attorney General of the United States do the same? What are they hiding and why?

On Monday the Patriot Guard Riders (patriotguard.org) attended an honors service at Sarasota National Cemetery for a Vietnam Veteran who passed away without any known family.

There were about 45 people present for the service who didn’t know him, they only knew he served his country and therefore he was our family.

He was a Captain and pilot in the United Stated Marine Corps. This gentleman earned the Air Medal while flying into hot LZs in Vietnam during his career. This man took an Oath of Office and honored that oath to the end of his life.

God Bless America!
