AMA WELCOMES WELLARD GROUP AS THE JERSEY SPONSOR

American Motorcyclist Association welcomes Wellard support for U.S. ISDE teams

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association welcomes Wellard Group Holdings as the jersey sponsor for the U.S. national team at the International Six Days Enduro in Saxony, Germany, Sept. 24-29. Wellard will also be the title sponsor of a U.S. club team at the event.

“Contesting the ISDE is a major undertaking,” said AMA Director of Racing Joe Bromley. “The support of Wellard in the form of team jerseys as well as direct financial support to three riders on a club team, composed of three qualifying riders, represents a significant level of sponsorship that will make a major difference this September.”

In addition to buying multiple team jerseys for each U.S. national team rider at the ISDE, the riders on the Wellard Club Team will receive direct financial support to help cover their expenses.

Wellard Managing Director Mauro Balzarini has been involved with off-road racing for many years and was a multi-National Enduro Champion in his earlier riding career. Having completed six ISDE’s himself — the last being at the extremely difficult 2006 event in Taupo, New Zealand — he knows what is required to compete at such a high level.

“Motorcycle racing is one of our passions. It is based on courage and determination which also is part of our business ethos, so we are pleased to put our support behind the U.S. team at this year’s ISDE,” Balzarini said. “We’re looking forward to not only a strong showing from the Wellard Club Team, but all riders racing for the United States this year in Saxony.”

Germany will be the sixth appearance of a Wellard Team at the ISDE since Chile in 2007. The team has improved its results every year. In that time, they have taken three Australian teams, including the first Australian Women’s ISDE team that earned a podium finish in Portugal. They’ve also fielded two New Zealand teams, one that was second in the World Club Team Cup in Mexico and one that was third in Finland.

The company also supports an amateur junior and senior motocross team in Australia, as well as two female enduro riders.

“Wellard is committed to off-road racing both at home and internationally,” Bromley said. “We’re very appreciative that they’ve extended that support to the U.S. team.”

Wellard is a global leader in the production and distribution of livestock and grain. It includes Wellard Rural Exports, Australia’s largest livestock exporter and ship owner and Wellard Agri, a large mixed farming landowner and operator specializing in the production of grains, legumes and livestock.

In addition to several three-rider club teams, the United States will be represented by the World Trophy Team, the Junior World Trophy Team and the Women’s World Trophy Team at the ISDE.

The club teams are selected based on rider performance in two ISDE qualifiers. The first ISDE qualifier was held June 2-3 in Idaho City, Idaho, by the Boise Ridge Riders. The second ISDE qualifier was run by the Appalachian Dirt Riders June 9-10 in Wellston, Ohio. The riders qualified and committed to race for the United States in Germany will be announced soon.
