The 4th Annual Female Veterans Retreat is slated to be held Sept. 14th – Sept. 17th, 2017 at Day Spring Episcopal Conference Center in Ellenton, Florida. This event is being hosted by Female Veterans Unite Inc. (a local 501, c, 3) and sponsored by BMW of Sarasota, Gold Coast Eagle Distributing, and The Home Depot(s), Venice Store #0273 and Sarasota Store # 0255. The 2017 retreat coordinators are Ms. Georgie Alfano-Cronk, Ms. Patty Maybray, & Ms. Elizabeth Cereska. (all are military veterans). Their platform includes information from the NOMORE.org campaign that encourages individuals to say “no more” to rape, domestic violence, or sexual assault. Plus there will be many other topics on the table for discussion too. Topics will include; how to achieve a balance in one’s life, how to navigate the VA healthcare system and secure VA benefits, achieving healthy relationships, dealing with fibromyalgia, stress relief techniques through art therapy and dance, the value of using aromatherapy oils and other holistic approaches and techniques to combat trauma, anger, anxiety, and depression.

They are most fortunate to have Dr. Jason Quintal (Owner of Quintal & Associates) facilitate a segment of the retreat in dealing with and overcoming “Trauma(s).” The women have found Dr. Quintal’s approach to their concerns not only educational, but also have found that his use of Trauma Resolution Treatment shortcuts traditional therapy by working with all facets of the mind; both the intellectual and the emotional. It’s quick and lasting. TRT is task versus time-oriented. What this means is that while traditional therapy consists of many hourly appointments, for months and sometimes years, with TRT your appointment lasts until your symptoms and root cause of the problems are eliminated. The task is complete and your mind is cleared. Our female veterans have experienced an immediate difference—a feeling of peace, strength and energy.”

What is the purpose of a retreat? A retreat allows the participants to exam all aspects of their personal life and to make positive changes to promote their own individual well-being. The women warriors participate in group discussions, and team building activities. During this retreat; the women will have an opportunity to undergo self-introspection, but they will not have to do it alone. They will have their fellow female veterans as their own personal support team.

The National Center for Veterans Analysis and Statistics in their 2015 report stated that the female veteran population is now at approximately 15%, but that number will progressively increase each and every year. It is truly a blessing that such a retreat for our Women Warriors is hosted in the beautiful Sarasota area with the support of their community.

Please take a moment and visit the website at: www.femaleveteransunite.com and watch their retreat video. This retreat is funded annually by donations from veteran organizations, local businesses, and patriotic private citizens.
