AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Heritage Award to be Presented

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association is continuing its partnership with The Quail Motorcycle Gathering for 2018 with a display at the event and the presentation of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Heritage Award.

The 2018 event is scheduled for May 5 at the Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel, Calif.

“The Quail Motorcycle Gathering is one of the country’s best annual motorcycling events, and we are happy to be a part of it again in 2018,” said AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman. “The Quail has become known for its yearly showcase of a of a wide array of vintage motorcycles, and it does an incredible job highlighting the performance and elegance of those machines.”

The AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Heritage Award recognizes a machine that best represents a contribution that AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famers have made to the growth of American motorcycling.

In 2017, the award was presented to Anthony Giammanco of California for his 1983 Honda RS750 flat tracker. In its heyday, the RS750 won four consecutive AMA Grand National Championships: 1984 ridden by Hall of Famer Ricky Graham and 1985-87 piloted by Hall of Famer Bubba Shobert. Graham went on to win one more title with the RS750 in 1993 as a privateer.

In addition to presenting the heritage award, the AMA will be on location to greet supporters, sell memberships and provide information about the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
