PICKERINGTON, Ohio — Speed, skill and bravery will be on full display tomorrow, when America’s fastest speedway racers begin their battle for the 2016 AMA National No. 1 plate at Round 1 of the 2016 AMA Speedway National Championship Series at the Costa Mesa Speedway in Costa Mesa, Calif.

“Speedway racing is wire-to-wire, full-throttle action,” said AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant. “The AMA Speedway National Championship Series includes the best riders in the country, broad sliding around the oval, inches from each other, jostling for the lead. It’s an all-out battle for a coveted spot on the podium, and it plays out in fan-friendly stadium settings. Check it out for one of the best shows in motorsports.”

The full schedule includes stops in Costa Mesa, Ventura, City of Industry and Auburn, Calif.:

With 20 heat races, two semi-final races and one final at each venue, the most talented riders rise to the top. Some of the top speedway contenders racing this season include six-time reigning series champion Billy Janniro, along with Max Ruml, Bart Bast and Broc Nicol.

“All of us here at Industry Racing are looking forward to once again hosting a round of the AMA Speedway National Championship Series,” said Kelly Inman, director of racing for Industry Racing. “The Grand Arena at Industry Racing is the nation’s only speedway venue completely covered with a roof. It also features big screen LED TVs above the track to show the live action, a permanent cafe, a live band nightly and a live webcast around the world every week.”

Throughout the season, the series will award $31,000 in prizes to competitors.

“We will be hosting the final round of the series with high enthusiasm,” said Dave Joiner, promoter of Fast Fridays Motorcycle Speedway. “Speedway racing’s basic simplicity makes for exciting racing action. It’s truly racer, machine and track. The AMA Speedway National Championship Series gives our fans the best opportunity to see America’s 16 best speedway racers compete for the AMA No. 1 plate that will be presented to the series winner on that night.”
