ASI Slated to Train Over 400 Boy Scouts and Venturers at Event

IRVINE, CA, July 11, 2013 – The ATV Safety Institute will provide the Boy Scouts of America with ATV training for the first time ever at next week’s 2013 National Scout Jamboree, July 15 – 24, at Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in Piney View, WV. ASI will be on hand to run more than 50 ATV RiderCourses to train up to 408 riders over the course of the 10-day event.

The ASI ATV RiderCourse will be available to participants in BSA Venturing, a youth developmental program that includes both boys and girls who range in age from 13 through 20. Held once every four years, the Jamboree gives the scouting community a chance to camp out, meet new friends, try high-adventure activities and enjoy the outdoors. This year’s event is significant because it’s the first Jamboree to be held at its new permanent home at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve.

“ASI is pleased to be a part of the Boy Scout’s introduction of motorized activities and honored to be selected for inclusion in the 2013 Jamboree,” said ASI Vice President Tom Yager. “The ASI ATV RiderCourse is ideal for the Jamboree and for the Venturing program, in particular. More than 50,000 Scouts, volunteers and staff are expected to be at this event, so it’s a wonderful opportunity to introduce kids to the positive experience of riding ATVs safely and responsibly, as well as to the importance of rider education and training.”

“ASI cannot thank the Boy Scouts enough for asking us to participate in the Jamboree,” said ASI Executive Vice President Paul Vitrano. “We are proud to be a part of this event, and prouder still that more than 400 Scouts have chosen to participate in the ATV RiderCourse. ASI also wants to thank AFX for providing helmets and Tucker Rocky for donating helmets and safety gear for use by the BSA riders, as well as ASI’s member companies for making appropriate sized vehicles available for this large-scale training event.”
